Birmingham Library is licensed to hold wedding and civil ceremonies, offering couples a very special city centre venue. In addition to this they hold an alcohol license and work with all the best Birmingham wedding suppliers so you can have your wedding done your way.
My wedding is going to be big/small? Can Birmingham Library accommodate that?
Birmingham Library have flexible space that can accommodate weddings of every size. For large weddings the Book Rotunda, a stunning book lined space in the centre of the library, can accommodate up to 200 people so is ideal for large weddings.
Or you can choose the historic Shakespeare Memorial Room which is a room that was created for the city’s librarian in Victorian times. Built in 1882 it has been beautifully restored. Commanding a position at the top of the library it is perfect for small intimate weddings. When you hire the Shakespeare Room it also includes exclusive use of the adjoining Skyline Viewpoint which has fantastic panoramic views of the city and which can accommodate up to 45 people.
Lastly, there’s the Highlight space, otherwise known as The Gallery which is a fantastic room for a drink’s reception and can accommodate up to 100 people. What I love about The Gallery is that you and your guests get an exclusive viewing of the latest exhibition along with the library’s world-class archive, heritage and photography collections. These exhibitions give me an ever-changing backdrop when photographing weddings at Birmingham Library.
Is there any outside space for my wedding at Birmingham Library?
Yes, there’s a gorgeous outdoor garden terrace on Level 3. It overlooks the majestic Centenary Square and makes a fantastic space for your wedding drinks reception as well as a fantastic backdrop in your wedding photographs.
How do I choose a Birmingham Library wedding photographer?
I’ll tell you what I tell everyone when choosing a wedding photographer. Check out their website, do you like their style? After all their photography is the end-product which you will keep and cherish for always. Talk to them, do you find their personality a match? After all your wedding photographer will be with you all day and will be like having another guest at your special day.
When the day has passed you will only have the images to remind you of the day so for peace of mind it’s best to book a professional rather than leave it to chance.
If you ask me what I like about shooting wedding photography at Birmingham Library I’d have to say many things. But one unique aspect is that by having a wedding there you are contributing to the City of Birmingham as a whole as income from weddings directly benefits the City of Birmingham library for the public and all the amazing collections that are housed and events that are hosted there.
