Zoe and Rob’s wedding was the first time I had shot wedding photography at Stanbrook Abbey so when I turned up at reception and they gave me a map I thought they were joking. It turned out I needed that map, Stanbrook Abbey is enormous, so being a Wedding Photographer at Stanbrook Abbey was going to include some exercise!
Zoe and Rob chose a corker of a wedding venue. Set in the Worcestershire countryside with outstanding views across the Malvern Hills, Stanbrook Abbey is a former monastery that boasts the most amazing architecture. Think dramatic cloisters, wooden beams, gothic stained-glass windows, all of which made for the most spectacular of backdrop for my images of Zoe, Rob and their guests. In fact, wedding photography at Stanbrook Abbey is made easier by the choice of stunning backdrops.
On the day I arrived early so I could take some lovely images of Zoe as she made her final preparations. I also got a chance to catch up with Rob and his grooms’ party to get a couple of shots of them too. One of my favourite pictures of the day was of Zoe looking amazing walking down one of Stanbrook Abbey’s magnificent staircases to greet her bridesmaids.
The ceremony was held in the majestic Callow Great Hall, which has pews facing each other in a collegiate style. This layout was perfect as it gave Zoe and Rob’s ceremony a warm and inclusive feel as guests were facing each other and everybody got a great view. (There was none of the usual craning of necks and standing on tiptoes to get a look at the bride and groom.)
Straight after the reception everybody enjoyed a drinks reception on one of the pretty lawns outside the Abbey and I took the opportunity to take some group and family shots. I then quickly whisked Zoe and Rob around the grounds of Stanbrook Abbey to take a few portrait shots of the two of them. The swing shot was fun! Then Zoe, Rob and their guests all went back inside the Abbey for a sumptuous wedding breakfast followed by some very well received speeches.
Now I love quirky little touches at weddings and at Zoe and Rob’s it was the playing of garden games. A personal touch that really suited the easy going and laid back atmosphere of the day, and some more opportunities for wedding photography at Stanbrook Abbey.
The evening reception was a fun affair with the first dance, the cutting of the cake, the tossing of the bouquet and a great live band who had everybody up and dancing well into the evening. Before completing my wedding photography at Stanbrook Abbey and taking my leave, I took a great nighttime shot of Stanbrook Abbey all lit up. The perfect shot to close the story of Zoe and Rob’s wedding day.
A lovely couple and a stylish wedding full of love and laughter. Congratulations to Zoe and Rob for getting married and creating such a wonderful day. I hope my images will help you relive it again and again for many years to come.
If you’re getting married at this great venue, and are looking for a Wedding Photographer for Stanbrook Abbey, I’d love to hear from you.
