Remember, remember the 5th of November and shooting wedding photography at Woodside, Kenilworth is always memorable. Especially when you get to work with great couples like Anne and Gerard. On the day I arrived at Woodside early so that I could take some images of Anne as she relaxed with her bridal party. Who consisted of mother of the bride Elaine, maid of honour Jenny, bridesmaid Erin and flower girl Ellie (they kindly had named mugs made so I would know who was who!) My colleague Phil stepped in to catch up with Gerard and his grooms’ party who were tucking into a bit of brunch before heading back to the house to get themselves ready.
Woodside wedding photography is always a pleasure to shoot. An Edwardian mansion based on the outskirts of the historic town of Kenilworth in Warwickshire. It is tucked away within 32 acres of beautiful gardens and woodlands. It really has a charming atmosphere so was the perfect choice for Anne and Gerard’s wedding.
The ceremony was held in Woodside’s Weymouth room, the high ceilings and bay window offered me excellent light to take shots of Anne and Gerard as they took their vows. The room had been dressed beautifully giving the ceremony a real air of luxury and elegance.
Anne looked amazing in her dress that was complimented with a simple bouquet of white roses. After a lovely ceremony Anne and Gerard came out to a confetti line up and everybody enjoyed a cocktail reception. Wedding photography at Woodside wouldn’t be the same without a chance to take some fun group shots (that included some larking about in the most beautiful vintage car!) Whilst the guests continued to mingle, I quickly whisked Anne and Gerard away for a few portrait shots set around the beautiful grounds of Woodside.
Then everybody went back inside for a sumptuous wedding breakfast. Cleverly signposted to where they needed to be by a Disney themed table plan (I love the little quirks, they always reveal something about the bride and grooms personalities) Woodside have won awards for their food so I knew that Anne, Gerard and their guests were in good hands! After the meal there were some very well received speeches.
Now, the cutting of the cake (I liked the original style of it) and the first dance were put back so that the moments could be shared with Anne and Gerard’s evening guests. I love how dancing happens at weddings. There’s the romantic first dance for the bride and groom, which is followed by lots of silly dancing by the bride, the groom, their family and their friends. I’m pleased to say that the dancing at Anne and Gerard’s wedding played out precisely in this way (really, take a look!) Though there was a brief break in the dancing whilst we all marked the historic date and went outside to play with sparklers. And taking the long exposure shot of the sparklers, with the sound of chatter and laughter all around me, presented me with the perfect image to close the story of Anne and Gerard’s day.
A lovely laid back wedding full of love and laughter. Congratulations to Anne and Gerard for getting married and creating such a memorable day for yourselves, your family and your friends. I hope my images will help you to relive it again and again for many years to come.
